Meditation: Moving Beyond Thoughts Into Stillness and Transcendence (ID #001)

Date: 7/8/2008 to 7/28/2008
Duration: 3 weeks
Host: Michael McCluskey
Topic(s): 2

Overview:

There is a transcendent experience available to everyone within their consciousness.  This experience rises into  awareness and reveals itself when our minds become quiet and free of thought.  Meditation is proven to be a useful and effective tool for quieting the mind and accessing this state of transcendence.

Yet, many struggle to incorporate a practice of meditation into their lives.  This conversation aims at providing support for new and experienced meditators.  If you are ready to move beyond words into a practice of stillness, this conversation will support your efforts.  Active participants in this conversation will, on a daily basis, practice breath meditation and use this conversation to share their experiences.

Topic 1: Part 1: Why are you here?
Part 2: Let's Meditate & Share
(week 1)

Part 1:  3 Days - Share your reasons for joining this conversation.  Describe what you think meditation is.  What's your experience with meditation so far?  Give us a little insight into your meditation experience; your motivations, your goals for this conversation.

Part 2: 11 Days (begins on Day 4) - The simple instructions of how to practice breath meditation will be posted by the host to kick off this section.  Willing participants will immediately begin to practice breath meditation (for at least 20 minutes every day) and begin posting their comments related to their experience within their meditation practice.

Topic 2: Share your experience... (weeks 2 - 3)
This section is designed for participants to share their overall experience of their breath meditation practice and this conversation.
