The comparison of hammer and pliers with the 'thinking' functions of the brain really emphasizes the importance of distinguishing which tool[s]/thought[s] are best suited for optimal purposes.

That was pretty cool, my generation might actually be able to watch this and learn something along the way, well... maybe. We need more things like this. Truly entertaining, but educational, none of this $#!7 with taped or forced laughter, but something true and intelligent.

Consider that the Solar Brain updates our growth if we listen...thus evolve. Consider that we have a left brain (sensate condition, grounding) Body. We also have a right brain (spirit-soul-consciousness)Mind...when aligned with the Heart allows us to hear the collective consciousness which is absolute. The mammal brain allows us to understand the pack mentality (family and friends) and gives us the ability to understand love. These brains go through change...0-27, 27-54, 54-81, 81-108 (child, adolescent, Adult, and Spirit Child respectively. In a perfect world...these evolve within a timespace. We are in a timespace where emergence is possible on a grand scale. In a perfect world, our Chackra's (10) are free to integrate all with our body and mind. This is overly simplified for purpose of this post. In Spirit, Ramon

    That was really cute.

WAIT A MINUTE! What about the other side of the picture? What about the ladies brains? The ones who are willing to do it 24/7 and the other ones who are so busy with achieving some goal that it is difficult to deal with their razor sharp intellect? How about some balanced women for a change??

I liked this a lot especially having been around when old Dating Game shows were new. I've been studying about emotions and the brain and if anyone is interested in following up on this information, I found an e-book "The Inside Story, Understanding The Power Of Emotion" on the Institute of HeartMath's website. It is written in terms anyone can understand, and describes the layers of the brain broken-up into three main parts as operating from Reflex/Instinct, Hindsight, and Foresight. The Hindsight part being involved in our emotions and feelings. It explains how emotions and our nervous system work together and describes how positive and negative emotions affect our heart rate variability. It states that there are more messages being sent to the brain from the heart than from the brain to the heart. And explains how our heart activity affect how we feel and our ability to think. So I get it as the heart doesn't impinge on the brain, but works with it. If anyone is interested in neuro-science I recommend visiting HeartMath.org. There is free information there for just curious people, analytical minded people, children, educators. There is more information and product to buy their heartmath.com site... I am only a grateful member.

Hi - I enjoyed the format.. thank-you for creating this. Content-wise, I'm not sure I agree. I think there's an important link between Feelings (not necessarily 'emotions') and Truth. But I can't substantiate this with any neuro-science. An individual's feeling about something is likely the truth for them, rather than the mental notion they have about it. The brain should work for the heart, and not the other way. Don't know if limbic controls 'the Heart' as the fuel of the mind and soul. ...thx

Super! I'm going to make my 16 and 20 year old sons sit down and watch this one, its going to be part of their global responsibility homework! This would also be a wonderful video for middle school and high school health teachers to incorporate into a lesson plan. Just kind of wish it wasnt presented with this visual, it might be taken as gender specific...

Funny, A simplified attempt for beginners understanding. Perhaps for this group weak. But at least you did it, so I give 5* for that! Thanks

Cheesy, over simplified and a bit stereotypical.

    Tanya Tiger (7/30/2007 9:17:06 AM)

This was a lot of fun and a good way to learn more about the brain. Adults might find it a little too silly but I think it would work very well with adolescents.

    Van Brock (7/12/2007 8:00:20 AM)

It opens with cliches that do not draw in someone who has been around a few decades. It may get better, but it starts out assuming the audience is retarded, so it is a waste of time. Really.

    Anthony Skilton (6/28/2007 2:50:55 PM)

Very good , could we have the same scenario where the sexes are reversed ?

    Dale Dickins (5/13/2007 12:44:30 AM)

10/10, very funny, informative and simply a brilliant way to share information.

    Lori Ventura (4/27/2007 2:39:36 PM)

Funny and Effective.... Very creative and poignant presentation.

It was funny and intelligent and has an important message for all of us. Well done

    Ian Glenn (4/14/2007 8:30:53 AM)

A clear informative and easily accessible lesson on the function of the brain. Fantastic.

    Mike Bell (4/13/2007 11:58:30 PM)

This is how I like to learn. Thanks.

    Gayanna Magcosta (4/4/2007 4:36:37 PM)

Very fun and informative. You're one creative guy.

    Kenneth Roeder (3/22/2007 3:21:13 AM)

I loved it. The brain never ceases to amaze me. I love the simplicity of the video, yet it was informative. Put together in a very entertaining way that can get through to kids^^

Emilie Aloha Lauran (1/20/2007 12:31:17 PM)

Loved it. Hilarious. Keep up the good work Jason!

I greatly enjoyed this and am posting a link to it from my blog. For the record, there are actually (at least) 5 brains -- in addition to these "layers" of the brain in the head (and we can't help but use them in combination all the time), we have an independent brain in the gut and in the heart. The heart is the most important link for our head brain. It communicates directly with the frontal lobes of the neocortex (which are the bits that do the things bachelor #3 was talking about)and can provide an input of positive energy if we use it wisely. In fact, there is growing evdence that our head brain is a tool for the heart's brain... and what a mind-shift THAT would produce!
