It is a very thought provoking video and amazingly accurate! To be a teenager is a wonderful yet daunting period in one's life but with proper guidance it can be enlightening. I pray that we will find enlightenment and take the next step towards adulthood and the unity that we all deep down know is our legacy.

As cells work together towards creating and advancing a human being, we, as humans must work together to advance the human race into its adult stage...

I think this meme carries some important wisdom. We have a collective trajectory as a human race and by understanding where we are on that trajectory we can act appropriately in ways that will help humanity move forward and mature. Clearly our current position on the trajectory is not sustainable, any more than it is sustainable to remain a teenager when one should be maturing into adulthood. Individuals who try to retain the carefree and immature attitudes of their teen years often have deeply unsatisfactory lives and damage not only themselves but those around them. I'm sure we will make the collective transition to adulthood, but we need mentoring.

I understand what you are speaking about, when you speak about the four stages of human development, catogorizing mankind at a teenager stage is one way of looking at mankind's situation on earth, I personally believe that we are at the elderly stage, the crossroad where our time and decisions that we make are very important to the future generations of our children. Time and distance on earth and in space interest me so very much, that I view these topics as a puzzle, a puzzle that must be solved if mankind is to cheat death in the long term. In my desire to help solve some of mankind's long term problems I have created a web site called (worldproject666.com) that has some of my inner view points which I believe to be very important to the future welfare of mankind on earth and in space in time to come. The key to solving mankind's situation on earth can be found in a simple formula that is mathematically correct if viewed from a logical point of view. (web page still under construction)

I understand what you are speaking about, when you speak about the four stages of human development, and catogriisng in some way I must disagree with you

It's funny because I both understood what the question meant and agreed that we are in a teenager stage. The real question is coming - will we decide to take the risks and gains associated with them, and hope to be lucky, or will we play it safe and slow - and in the process take the risk of running out of resources.

Very interesting analogy. I have often despaired about our unconsciousness and wondered how we're ever going to start thinking long-term. I hope we are close to the Early Adulthood stage - cuz we're running out of time!

A wonderfully descriptive piece that looks clearly at where humanity is in terms of its stage of development - like a teenager. I thought about how the teenagers I know balk at anyone observing them or telling them anything about themselves. If humanity is truly in its adolescence, this film will be hard for people to watch. Most teenagers have to learn through hard personal experience - is that what's in store for humanity? I hope there is enough global maturity to guide humanity away from the worst of the excesses and destruction so that we can learn lessons and grow up. The video doesn't really answer the question of whether we're growing up, just expresses a hope that we will. Those of us who do embrace a more mature perspective on the world and our stewardship of it really have to speak up and get engaged, not just let the teenagers run things.

    Nice cinematography.... and analogy.

Interesting, fairly known by now, bases of the stats were anecdotal, but I personally believe them. I consider that maybe we are reaching puberty, I don't even think we are there yet. One obvious important fact is that at this age we have not completed our brain development yet. This bring us to the problem we face, how can we make this planet last until we have a full "social brain" developed? That's our challenge.
